Instructions

  • Students are nearing the end of their capstone projects. Now, it’s time to prepare final presentations describing the work they have done over the past year and the impact it’s had on themselves and their communities.

1. Opener: Storytelling and Final Presentations

  • Explain to students that today they will begin to prepare final presentations about their capstone projects.

  • Final presentations should tell the story of their work this past year. Students should use the Showcase Draft Handout to begin to outline the story of their work and its impact.

  • Students should feel free to use rough notes and bullet points in drafting their responses. As, at this stage, it is more important to get their ideas organized, than to craft perfect prose.

2. Packaging the Showcase

  • Assign or review showcase format options (presentation board, digital slideshow, video, speech, etc.)

  • Provide the Presentation Checklist to students. Students will ensure that their showcase includes:

  • Clear summary of project

  • Visual or artifact

  • Impact or outcome

  • Reflection on values

  • Call to action or next steps

3. Optional: Peer Feedback

  • If time allows, give students time for a practice round of their presentation or peer-run feedback gallery.
