In our research with workers across professions, we asked people, “To whom or what do you feel responsible?” Our research has shown that people often have a multitude of answers to this question, ranging from responsibilities to themselves, to their families and friends, to their organizations and workplaces, to their communities, and to society at large. These responsibilities can be visualized as a series of concentric circles, radiating from the self at the center, outward to the wider world. Use our Rings of Responsibility tool to list, sort, and visualize your responsibilities.

1. Begin by listing your various responsibilities in your life.

2. Sort your responsibilities within the rings of the model.

Click on the button above to access the online Rings of Responsibility exercise. This tool works both on desktop and mobile devices.

You will be asked to list your various responsibilities, then to sort them onto the diagram, and then have the option to save a PDF or image of your sort for saving.

Like our Value Sort, this version of the Rings of Responsibility exercise allows users to track group responses using “event codes”. Event code access allows users to view the responsibilities sorted by all joiners to that code, so that you can reflect as a group.
